Funding Model
We came to understand there are four essential ways to fund films today, but only one way often does not fit the largest swath of interested parties. In order for us to be able to create these wonderful films we’ve created a new Hybrid Funding Model which includes 4 major components:
This way each individual can tailor-make their own commitment to quality films and diverse artists in the way that’s the best fit for their particular circumstances.
This is not a subscription model that prompts “how much do I get for my subscription?” But having said that the perks are phenomenal!!! This is about supporting diverse films on a global level – and the artists involved with those films. This is about what you can afford to spend so that you’re insured a good lesbian film every 18-24 months as well as being involved in the process.
But we are also building community and a life-long support system. A global destination hub not just for Nicole Conn Films but those productions we support.
We strongly value the opinions and desires of NCFF (Nicole Conn Film Family) Over 1000 members strong who help us with Research and Development and let us know what the community is wanting in their film fare. What actresses and actors are they interested in right now. Which of the seriously underserved genres would they like to see in their film collection. Whose uncle owns a farm where we can go shoot and all the people from that area can come help on the set. Folks who want to work on a set will be chosen first from NCFF and NCFG. We will always strive to keep our members involved first and foremost in as many aspects of the filmmaking process as possible. It really touches so many different skill sets.
This is also about supporting the community of diverse artists from all over the world. We want to help give them voice and vision. Nicole Conn Films Global will always be on the lookout for composers, musicians, singers, actors, designers, and other filmmakers to help promote these artists inside the revolving slate of films. We will expose them through all our social media outlets. For instance, if a member is a photographer – please submit your portfolio to be considered as set dressing. Or perhaps you have a show-running in your city and you want us to post for you and/or lend you our email list we will be happy to do that as a cross-support effort. If you’re a director, send us your reel. We want to help all the artists who don’t do their art for monetary gain - but because it is their passion. And finally, we are making partnerships with other well-known diverse organizations as an effort to help one another. Our community has suffered from scarcity issues for as long as I can remember. And I have always personally rejected scarcity as a philosophy! But when I came to LA there was an unspoken code: there was only room for one lesbian director/major TV show-runner, etc. But, we are ALWAYS better Together, stronger Together and Can Achieve Untold Success Together! We have a universe of our people to reach around the world and there’s more than enough to go around.
